Material Storage Systems offers cantilever racks that are designed to store long or varying length items, such as pipes, lumber, steel, and board material. Cantilever rack can be single sided or double sided and can be constructed to handle light, medium, heavy and extra heavy duty loads. Lumber, sheetrock, steel, tubing, plastics, furniture and cardboard are some of the industries that utilize cantilever racks.
Cantilever racks are engineered and designed around weight, length, rigidity and the type of material or materials to be stored. The arm spacing and height of the column also needs to be considered. Other key factors that will help in the design of the cantilever rack, is fork truck capabilities and possible warehouse limitations such as the ceiling height and space for aisles.
A Cantilever racking set consists of arms, columns, bases and brace sets. The arms can be inclined or straight with a lip or no lip and can also have pipe sockets. Columns can be double sided or single sided with heights up to 24ft+. The base is determined by arm length and is typically used as one of the storage levels on the unit. Brace sets are used to tie the columns together and are figured by length of material divided by the number of uprights.
Cantilever arm sizes come in 18”, 24” 30”, 32”, 36”, 42”, 48” & 60”. Standard column heights can range from 6ft-24ft and braces sets can be 36”, 48”, 60”, 72”, 84” & 96”.
Depending on column height, more than one brace set may be required.
